FAQ’s

How does your pricing work?

Similar to a hotel, you will be charged for the number of nights your dog stays with us. Dogs must be picked up by 11:00AM or you will be charged a daycare fee. We accept all major credit cards. We do not take cash or check.

What happens if there is a hurricane or severe weather?

During Hurricane season (June to November), we will require you to provide an emergency contact person who can pick up and care for your dog.

In the event of severe weather, dogs will be safe and secured in their indoor cabin, with staff monitoring the weather and the dogs.

What happens if my dog becomes sick or gets injured?

At KT Dog Ranch and Kennel, communication is paramount. We take the well-being of your pet very seriously. If your dog requires medical attention, we will immediately notify your emergency contact. If this person is unreachable, we will ensure emergency veterinary attention to the dog at the owner’s expense.

What are your vaccination requirements?

We only allow healthy, vaccinated, and flea-free dogs to board with us. Each pet’s vaccination records will be required before their first visit and updated annually.

The following vaccines are mandatory to board or attend daycare at KT Dog Ranch and Kennel.

Parvo / Distemper: Dogs aged 16 weeks and older, must have completed a 3-dose initial vaccine schedule, followed by annual or 3-year booster. This vaccine is given in the form of DAPP, DHPP or DHLPP.

Rabies: All dogs 16 weeks and older are required to provide proof of vaccination on an annual or every 3-year schedule.

Bordetella: Proof of vaccination is required on an annual basis.

Influenza: Effective 3/15/2024 we will require the canine influenza vaccination. This vaccine is given in the form of CIV, H3N8/H3N2, and Canine Influenza.

* Puppies aged 8 weeks, but younger than 16 weeks, must show proof of the initial vaccination against parvo / distemper, followed by a booster at 12 weeks and the final booster at 16 weeks. They should also have had a Bordetella vaccination at 8 weeks, which is repeated at 12 weeks.

** Elderly dogs that are no longer given vaccines for medical reasons, may be eligible to board / play at our facility, but only with written proof from their veterinarian, that the dog no longer tolerates vaccines and then they do so at the owner’s risk.

Can my puppy attend day care?

Yes, if it is at least 8 weeks old and received its initial parvo/distemper and bordetella vaccines. However, KT Dog Ranch and Kennel recommends that your puppy does not attend daycare until it is 16 weeks old and has received all of its vaccines.

Can my unfixed dog attend day care?

Yes, if it is a puppy under 6 months old they can attend group play. Dogs over 6 months old that are not fixed will go into private day care.

How long is my dog outside for daycare?

Daycare dogs will typically play in our yards from 8:00am until 11:30am and 2:00pm to departure time (weather permitting). All dogs are monitored closely and may be rotated more often if more rest time needed.

Is my dog supervised while in the daycare yards?

Yes, dogs are never in the play yards unsupervised.

I have a small dog, will he/she play in the same yard as the big dogs?

No, our dogs are split up by size. Small dogs will only play in our designated small dog yards.

My daycare dog eats lunch, can I send it with him/her?

Yes, our day care dogs have a rest time over lunch. We will feed them and allow them enough time to digest their food before they resume playing.

What are the daycare hours?

Our day care hours are 7:00 am to 6:00 pm for a full day of daycare. We also offer a ½ day option which is for 5.5 hours and can be scheduled anytime during our regular daycare hours.

What should I bring for my dog when he/she comes to board?

We ask that you bring enough food to last the duration of your dog’s stay. While we prefer it pre-portioned, we have cups and scoops available to portion it here. Bring medication for your dog if they need it, this should be labeled with the dog’s name and dosage instructions. You may also bring a blanket, and bite sized snacks.

Can my unfixed dog board overnight?

We do not allow unaltered females over the age of 6 months. If you have an intact male, they can board overnight but they will not participate in group play. They will instead have private one on one time with our techs or play with siblings. We can also schedule a private nature walk of our 20 acre facility for an additional cost.

How often will my boarding dog get out to play?

The boarding dogs will get out twice a day for play time. They will have a morning and an afternoon session, the time varies based on the dog, the weather, etc. Each dog will be in their cabin during the lunch hours to allow ample time to rest and nap. We monitor every dog and rotate them for rest time if more is needed.

My dog has never used a doggie door, how will you address this?

We will train your dog on doggie door use and make sure that they are familiar with its use before leaving them unattended. However, if your dog prefers not to use the doggy door, we will simply use a leash and take it out for regular potty breaks as needed.

Do the dogs have 24 hour access to outside via the doggy door?

No, our doggy door is opened around 7:00 am and locked at dusk. We want to make sure that all of our guests are safely tucked into their lodging at bedtime.

Do the dogs have supervision during the night?

Yes, we have a night shift supervisor who is here with the dogs during the night.
